Musical Director – Nick Smith
Nick started playing in 1960 with Evesham Town Silver Band. When that band folded in 1966, due to the lack of players, all the instruments and music were transferred to Blockley Brass Band with whom they had formed a strong relationship. Some of the ETSB members also transferred, Nick included, and he remained with them for 27 or so years, the last 8 years as conductor. During that time he played a variety of instruments, Cornet, Soprano Cornet and Flugel. He then spent 12 years with AVSB playing Cornet, Tenor Horn and Baritone and also was Assistant Conductor for 2 years. Nick joined Avonbank in 2003 and was appointed MD in 2005 and continued for 7 years in that post. He stayed on as a player and Assistant Conductor until December 2016 when he rejoined AVSB.
