About Us

Alcester Victoria Silver Band was formed in March 1897 as a result of a meeting in a coffee house where it was thought it would be beneficial to the town. The band has played on ever since and celebrated its centenary a few years ago with a series of “Pop Proms” concerts. The band has maintained close links with the town and is proud to lead the Remembrance Day parade every year.

The band enjoyed some success in contesting, rising to the 3rd section at one point before the decision was taken in the early 2000s to concentrate on concerts rather than contesting.

As part of the centenary celebrations, a history of the band was produced by Nigel Kift, copies of which can be obtained for £5 by contacting the band through the website.
