Back to What We Love

Last night the band was excited to be back playing for the public for the first time in 28 months. We were invited by the mayor of Pershore to put on a concert to raise money for his chosen charity – Pershore Talking Newspaper. The concert was timed to celebrate the Queen’s 96th birthday and to start the town’s celebrations of her Platinum Jubilee.

The concert was a great success with music varying from Purcell’s Rondo right up to Queen’s Fat Bottomed Girls and all stops inbetween. Ian Jones wowed with Autumn Leaves on the Flugel and Joe Cheshire gave a sublime performace of the traditional Euphonium solo Blaydon Races. Soprana and Principal Cornet, Graham Hall and Ian Rochester were featured with an arrangement of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Pie Jesu and the evening was rounded off with the toe-tapping Breezin’ Down Broadway. MD Nick Smith was on fine form, entertaining the audience between pieces with information and jokes.

The band looks forward to getting out playing again over the Summer.
